'Quite Right Theatre', formerly known as Without Walls Theatre Company are a company, born out of the University of East Anglia in 2014. Through a collective love of theatre and performance, our company endeavour to create ground-breaking theatre, by fearlessly merging styles, re-imagining texts in refreshing new ways, and bridging together cultures to reach a more universal audience. While at university, founding members Sam Holland and Jonathan Cobb wrote and directed 'Dead Meat' an original short silent comedy, staged during UEA's Minotaur 'Short Plays' Festival, 2012, the company then staged its first full length production, 'Rope' by Patrick Hamilton with aid of UEA drama society in 2013. The production would win the coveted 'best production of the year' award at that years ceremony. The company's first big challenge was the 'Re Lear' tour of Italy which saw them take Shakespeare's 'King Lear' to 6 venues across the Italian region of Puglia. The success of this launched a number of other productions, Edward Albee's 'The Zoo Story' at Theatre Delicatessen, Sheffield in early 2015, directed by Heather Morgan, original one man show 'Sanctum' written by Sam Holland and performed by Ardi Mejzini and their most recent tour of Puglia with 'Measure for Measure. Performing in Italy is not entirely new for some of Quite Right's members. In summer and winter of 2012, as part of the company By Any Other Name, group members took another Shakespearian classic, Romeo and Juliet to Puglia, performing in and around Locorotondo, Massafra and Mavu, receiving rave reviews. Some of the members since graduating have gone on to receive honours at prestigious colleges such as The Drama Studio London, Mountview college of theatre and music and The Drama Centre London. |
